Hexham Straight Alliance

The Hexham Straight Widening Alliance was established to facilitate the widening of a 6km section of Maitland Road from four lanes to six, spanning between Sandgate and Hexham. The project involved creating two additional lanes, one in each direction, alongside replacing the bridge over Ironbark Creek with two new structures and demolishing the existing one.

Williamtown Drive Duplication & Nelson Bay Road Intersection Upgrade

Newcastle Airport is undergoing significant investment in landside infrastructure upgrades to support the expansion of the existing terminal to facilitate long-haul international flights. These upgrades include additional car parking facilities and improvements to existing road networks and intersections.

Scone CBD Revitalisation

The Scone CBD Revitalisation project involved the reconstruction and upgrade of Kelly Street, from the intersection of Kingdon Street to the intersection with St Aubins Street (approximately 500m). Kelly Street is a key roadway which forms the main shopping and CBD for the Scone township.

Bathers Way | South Newcastle Beach

City of Newcastle engaged Daracon to undertake the Bathers Way, South Newcastle project, spanning from Shortland Esplanade to King Edward Park. Formerly the site of the skatepark, this area is being transformed into a dynamic community hub for both locals and visitors. Alongside revitalising the space, we’re enhancing the pedestrian and cycle path infrastructure.

Yarrie Lake to Pilliga Freight Route Upgrade

Regional roads are the lifeblood of Australia, they connect primary producers with coastal sea ports. The Yarrie Lake and Pilliga Freight Route is part of the main East/West transport link,  connecting Coonamble, Pilliga, Wee Waa and Narrabri, while also acting as a direct link to the Kamilaroi Highway. This critical connector is an important freight route between Narrabri Shire and the ports of Newcastle, Port Jackson (Sydney Harbour), Port Botany and Port Kembla. This project also received funding from all three levels of government.

Newcastle Ocean Baths Upgrade - Stage 1

Daracon commenced Stage 1 upgrade works on the 14 March 2022, to help address the client’s (City of Newcastle) immediate needs of safety, water quality and accessibility at the pools after extensive community consultation.  Stage 1 of the Newcastle Ocean Baths Upgrade included the rebuilding and restoration of the pool, promenades, and pumping system, extending the design life of the facility for a further 50 years.

Cottage Creek Foreshore and Promenade Upgrade Project

The Cottage Creek and Foreshore Upgrade Project is located within the Honeysuckle Precinct Area which is adjacent to Newcastle CBD. The Foreshore upgrade permanent works comprised the construction of a promenade extending 450m along previously reclaimed Lee Wharf 4, 5, and Throsby Wharfs, inclusive of a pedestrian bridge over Cottage Creek. The project also included the remediation and landscaping works to create open spaces adjacent to Cottage Creek.

AGL Void 5 - Bund Wall Construction (South and North Arm)

The AGL Void 5 project included the construction of multiple earthen dam walls comprising 130,000m3 of selected fill material. These earthen dam walls were constructed at the Ravensworth Void 5 North and South Arm Locations. This allowed for the continued depositing of fly ash in the void 5 location.

Pacific Highway Upgrade Lisarow - Stage 3B

Stage 3B of the Pacific Highway upgrade at Lisarow involves the widening of the existing Pacific Highway to provide two lanes in each direction between Parsons Road and Ourimbah Street, Lisarow, a length of approximately 1.6 kilometres in the local government area of Central Coast Council.

Daracon was engaged by Upper Hunter Shire Council for the Scone Airport Airside Infrastructure Upgrade to ensure the airport’s compliance with safety regulations and allow for the construction of a new terminal building, hangars and Warbirds Visitor Aviation Attraction.

MR195 Cessnock Road Flood Access (Testers Hollow)

The MR195 Cessnock Road Upgrade at Testers Hollow project involves the construction of a 670m roadway between Cliftleigh and Gillieston Heights. The project is required in order to minimise the impact on the community during flood events, in which the existing road can flood for an extended period of time.

Daracon was awarded the contract for the Redevelopment of Newcastle East Public School Playground which involved removal of contaminated material.

The NSW Department of Education had previously identified the potential for contamination at Newcastle East Public School caused through the replacement of existing roofing and contaminated fill material in past projects.

Knights Centre of Excellence

Located on the corner of Bavin and Perth Road, Broadmeadow, NSW. Previously the area has been utilized for cricket and junior Rugby League matches but in recent years it has been rarely used as a consequence of it becoming waterlogged after rain events due to inadequate site grading and drainage. 

The project involves the construction of 3 full-size Rugby League fields, 2 mini fields along with 2 private and 1 public carpark and the upgrade of existing Bavin Road.
