Key Highlights
Celebrating 40 Years
On October 12, 2023, Daracon Group, officially marked 40 years of shaping the region; celebrating a legacy of transformation and community impact. From humble beginnings in 1983, Daracon Group now employs over 880 team members, while remaining one of the largest family-owned and operated civil construction businesses based in the Hunter. This milestone also saw Daracon listed as a finalist at the 2023 Hunter Business Awards ‘Contribution to the Region’ category.
Commitment to Sustainability
In June this year, Daracon Group reinforced its commitment to sustainable practices on World Accreditation Day, and just a month later the company was recognised with a Bronze Partnership with the NSW Department of Planning and Environment Sustainability Advantage program.
Community Support and Engagement
Daracon Group remained actively involved in community initiatives, continuing a 20+ year legacy, hitting the dirt once again in 2023 to support the Variety Bash. Daracon Group also continued to support the initiatives of Newcastle’s Soul Hub throughout 2023, including the Hampers of Hope Appeal and ‘Story of Soul’ calendar drive. Daracon teams members also continued to support the Westpac Rescue Helicopter during the year via workplace giving.
Workplace Safety Excellence
Daracon maintained its unwavering focus on workplace safety, throwing their support behind National Safe Work Month by launching it’s new integrated operational management and compliance reporting software tool (Donesafe), alongside a new Safety and Visible Leadership Program for Daracon Group team members. The organisation also joined the TradeMutt Club to shine a light on mental health in construction.
Industry Recognition
Daracon was awarded a CCF NSW Earth Award ($5 - $10 million project award category) for it’s exceptional work on the Kooragang Island Waste Emplacement Facility – Eastern Ponds (KIWEF) project, for client, Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation.
Recognising the People who are Shaping the Future
Daracon proudly nominated many team members from across the group for a range of prestigious awards, including the CCF NSW People Awards and NAWIC NSW 2023 Excellence Awards. Timothy Guise and Alex Massey walked away with a CCF NSW People Award in 2023 and Hayley Sansom secured the University Scholarship award at the 2023 NAWIC Excellence Awards.
