Finalists Announced for NAWIC NSW 2024 Excellence Awards

News | Wednesday, 23rd October 2024

Finalists for the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) NSW 2024 Excellence Awards have been announced, with Daracon Group’s Senior HR Specialist – Compliance, Diversity and Inclusion Emma Morson listed as one of three finalists in the Crystal Vision Award category, sponsored by Lendlease.

The Crystal Vision Award celebrates the achievement of individuals that actively promote and encourage participation and career progression of women in the construction or related industries. This award celebrates the continuing commitment towards advancing the interests of women in the construction industry as a whole, using examples such as establishing policies, supporting legislation and creating unique organisational initiatives.

Adele Stewart, Group People & Culture Manager, expressed her thoughts on the finalist nod, stating, "As a woman who leads an predominantly female People & Culture Team, I’m proud to shine a light on how Daracon has facilitated opportunities for women to develop strong and dynamic careers across the construction industry."

“Daracon are proud supporters of the CCF NSW 50 by 50 campaign, which aims to reach equal gender participation within the NSW Civil Construction industry by 2050. Emma Morson worked closely with our Executive Team in 2020 to step out what a goal of 50% female participation would entail and how they could strategically work towards creating a balance by 2050,” said Ms Stewart.

Daracon Director Business Development Adam Kelly said, “Emma’s background in Industrial Relations and Employment Law laid a strong foundation for her current work in diversity and inclusion. During her early employment within Daracon Group,  Emma was always a strong advocate of identifying and encouraging gender balance in the workplace, so it’s no surprise that she has received this finalist acknowledgment in the 2024 NAWIC NSW Excellence Awards.”

“Emma has passionately and professionally educated Daracon’s workplace, implemented policies and procedures, and created organisational initiatives that actively promote and encourage participation and career progression of women in our industry,” he said.

Winners of the NAWIC NSW 2024 Awards for Excellence will be announced at the ICC Sydney on November 28.
