This week, Daracon Group has been spreading a message of inclusivity, investment in women and equality to mark both NSW Women’s Week (4 – 10 March) and International Women's Day (8 March). Spearheaded by the Daracon Wellness Team, these celebrations have not just focussed internally on women across the organisation, but also externally, with a donation drive launched to support Carrie’s Place.
The theme of this year's International Women’s Day celebration is “Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress.” This theme underscores the vital importance of women's economic empowerment in advancing towards a world of gender equality, where opportunities for earning, learning, and leading are equally accessible to all.
As part of its commitment to equality and gender diversity, Daracon Group is shining a light on just some of the women in their ranks who are working in non-traditional roles as Machine Operators and Truck Drivers, at their quarrying and concrete operations.
"Daracon Group firmly believes that by investing in women and supporting our entire workforce to see the value gender diversity has in the workplace, we can accelerate progress towards a more equitable and inclusive society," said Emma Morson, Daracon Senior HR Specialist – Compliance, Diversity and Inclusion.
Donations of goods are being collected to aid Carrie’s Place, a service supporting women and children experiencing family and domestic violence, and/or homelessness across the Lower and Upper Hunter regions. Daracon team members across the Group have been encouraged to drop off donations at collection points set-up across Daracon’s footprint in Sydney, Newcastle and Gunnedah throughout the month of March.
Daracon are passionate about ensuring equal opportunities for women to enhance their capabilities and strengthen their capacity to learn, earn, and lead. Learn more about joining the Daracon team here.
