Arenco Win Master Builders Association NSW 2024 Excellence in Construction Award for St Leonards Plaza (Wadanggari Park)

Arenco, which is part of the Daracon Group of companies has walked away from The Master Builders Association NSW 2024 NSW Excellence in Construction Awards as the winners in the Civil Engineering ($25 - $50 Million) category. This award sponsored by Safe-Sight.Ai, celebrates Arenco’s work delivering St Leonard Plaza (Wadanggari Park).

The event, held at The Star Sydney on 19 October, brought together leaders from various sectors of the construction industry to celebrate achievements in design, engineering, and construction excellence. Arenco’s win highlights its long-standing expertise in the delivery of rail infrastructure alongside their diversification to deliver civil infrastructure projects which help shape the urban landscape. 

Arenco were responsible for the design and construction of a 3,000m3 green civic space over the operational northern rail line. Delivered for Lane Cove Council, this new recreational facility located over existing rail space provided residents with much needed green space in a bustling urban environment.

Angelo Stratikopoulos, Divisional Manager Arenco shared some background about the scope of works “Construction commenced in December 2021 and concluded in September 2023 and included all design, and construction works related to the plaza including multi-disciplinary coordination of structure, architecture, urban design, civil works and drainage, electrical and communications, hydraulic, lift, landscaping, children’s play equipment and public artwork,” he said.  

“The new works consisted of a Super-T bridge structure; lift; ramps; accessible walkways; landscaping; performance stage; bespoke playground apparatus; shade structures and seating areas with integrated electrical and communication provisions for park users,” said Mr Stratikopoulos.

The NSW Excellence in Construction Awards, hosted by the Master Builders Association NSW, are one of the most prestigious honours in the state, recognizing companies that demonstrate leadership and innovation in construction projects.
