Daracon has been award the intersection upgrades of King Georges Road and Canterbury Road, Wiley Park. The King Georges Road and Canterbury Road intersection currently operates at capacity during peak periods and queues of vehicles can exceed the existing right turn bays, blocking through traffic.

The project will widen Canterbury Road to provide additional right turn lanes on to King Georges Road in both directions. This will improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and improve safety.

The key benefits to the community include:

  • Improve traffic flow at the intersections;
  • Improve road safety and help reduce the number of crashes;
  • Ease congestion and improve travel time reliability; and
  • Modelling shows each motorist regularly using the intersection during peak periods will save 5 hours a year. This equates to a benefit of more than $10 million in the first year alone.
