National NAIDOC Week (7 - 14 July, 2024) presents a powerful theme: 'Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud'. It’s a time for Australians to come together and celebrate the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. For Daracon Group, this week is especially significant as they reflect on their ongoing commitment to building genuine partnerships.
Daracon Group remains dedicated to their Aboriginal Partnership Policy, which aims to create and expand opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and enterprises. A key focus is generating and supporting employment for First Nations people, while promoting cultural diversity within the organization and the broader community.
Emma Morson, Daracon Group’s Senior HR Specialist – Compliance, Diversity, and Inclusion, sheds light on their approach. "Our partnership model, anchored by the Daracon Group Aboriginal Partnership Policy, demonstrates our commitment to providing employment for Aboriginal people and engaging with Aboriginal businesses. This policy has led to a notable increase in the number of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander participants across Daracon’s workforces.”
Daracon Group seeks partnerships with Aboriginal enterprises and individuals to highlight career pathways in civil construction. Daracon’s most recent focus has been providing opportunities for traineeships, apprenticeships and career pathways through pre-employment programs, career tasters and school visits. "Identifying and nurturing talent, while equipping individuals with the necessary skills for a successful career in civil construction, aligns with Daracon’s proactive approach towards achieving equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples," Ms. Morson added.
