Summary

ARTC’s FY20 Annual Works Plan (AWP) includes a structures component within the Hunter Valley Rail Corridor. Part of this  work is for the replacement of the following bridges within the Hunter Valley network:

  • Merrygoen 408.791km
  • Premer 530.997km
  • Premer 531.466km
  • Premer 532.250km

Scope of Works

  • Precast and cast insitu concrete works;
  • Supply and haulage of all precast elements for the works;
  • Track removal and replacement;
  • Regrading of drainage lines and installation of scour protection;
  • Demolition and replacement of existing timber bridge structure at Merrygoen approximately 20m long and 4.5m high;
  • Demolition and replacement of three existing timber bridge structures at Premer approx. 55m long and 1.5m high;
  • Install of culverts at Merrygoen, approximately 42t each; and
  • Install of culverts at Premer, approximately 18t each.

Achievements

  • Successfully managing the delay on the Premer project due to flooding immediately prior to the scheduled possession;
  • Successfully managing the rescheduling of the Merrygoen project due to COVID-19 restrictions; and
  • Working around the wet and soft ground conditions at Merrygoen requiring a last minute change to the foundation design prior to the works and diversion of ongoing creek flows during installation.
