Refreshed Partnership Supports HMRI Outcomes This Medical Research Giving Day

News | Tuesday, 8th September 2026

Late last month Daracon Group employees came together over morning tea to support women’s health research undertaken by Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), as part of the inaugural Medical Research Giving Day (9 September).

Celebrating Medical Research Giving Day ‘Purple Morning Tea’ was a chance for employees to show their support by wearing purple, sharing a plate, and learning more about the importance of the work undertaken by HMRI. This Medical Research Giving Day, HMRI aims to raise $100,000 for women’s health research that is happening across the Hunter New England region.

For Daracon, the morning tea is an opportunity for employees to get involved in the organisations ongoing platinum partnership with HMRI. The recent partnership renewal comes off the back of a successful first year of platinum sponsorship of HMRI in 2025, backed by a decade of philanthropic support since 2016. Having seen the value that the partnership delivered for both HMRI and for its own workforce, Daracon is proud to extend its platinum support into a second year.

Professor Frances Kay, HMRI’s Institute Director and CEO, said the organisation was grateful to Daracon Group for continuing its support.

“The best partnerships grow with you. Daracon Group has been part of HMRI’s story for a decade, and as both of our organisations have grown and evolved, so too has our relationship. We’re incredibly grateful to have trusted partners who are willing to ask with us what could this partnership become next?”

“For us, that means creating value in both directions. HMRI supporting the health and wellbeing of Daracon’s people, while their support enables our people to keep discovering better ways to prevent illness, improve care and take healthy further. It’s a partnership built on trust, shared purpose, and a genuine commitment to the health of our community.” said Professor Kay.

Part of the strength of the renewal is that the inclusions of the partnership are customisable to suit Daracon’s needs, ensuring the collaboration aligns closely with both the work of HMRI, and the health and wellbeing of the Daracon workforce.

“Last year, one of our partnership benefits was a Daracon Wellness session, where we invited Associate Professor Myles Young to speak to our workforce about men's health – this session touched on physical health, mental health, and how to support your mates. It's these types of tangible benefits that help us realise the value in this partnership, alongside the impactful research outcomes that we see year-on-year from the team at HMRI,” said Jon Mingay, Managing Director, Daracon Group.

Looking ahead, Daracon is excited to see how the platinum partnership evolves and the shared benefits it will continue to deliver for research outcomes and workforce wellness.
