From Foundations to Futures: Daracon Inducted into UON Industry Hall of Fame

Daracon Group is proud to announce it has been inducted into the Industry Hall of Fame, as part of the University of Newcastle (UON) Employability Excellence Awards; a recognition of its longstanding collaboration with the University.

The Industry Hall of Fame celebrates organisations that have made a lasting impact through sustained support of students’ professional growth. Organisations are eligible for induction after maintaining a partnership with UON for a minimum of three consecutive years, providing meaningful career-ready placements, and enhancing programs that create valuable learning opportunities for students.

Daracon’s connection with the University spans decades and reflects a shared commitment to building careers, nurturing and retaining talent within the Hunter region.

“With the size and scope of our organisation, we have been fortunate enough to offer a variety of career pathways and opportunities to university graduates over several decades, which helps us to retain talented people not only within Daracon, but also to the benefit of the wider Hunter Region,” says Adele Stewart, People & Culture Group Manager at Daracon Group.

“Our partnership with the University has created a strong pipeline of skilled, passionate people who continue to shape the future of our business and the region,” she said.

This is a fitting achievement for Hunter based Daracon Group, a civil construction company who celebrated 40 years of operation in 2023. In 1966, its founder and Executive Director David Mingay became one of the University’s first Bachelor of Engineering graduates.

In the decades since, Daracon has welcomed hundreds of UON graduates across engineering, construction, business, surveying, law, commerce, and other disciplines. The company currently employs 70 UON alumni across roles ranging from Cadets to Company Directors.

“This recognition is incredibly meaningful to us at Daracon Group,” Ms Stewart added. “It’s a reflection of the strong relationship we’ve built with the University over many years, and the shared belief that investing in people benefits not just our business, but the broader community as well,” she said.

Daracon looks forward to continuing its long-standing partnership with the University of Newcastle, celebrating its success, and building more career opportunities for students and graduates in the years ahead.
