Daracon Named Finalist in Industry Hall of Fame Award Category - Shaping Futures Since 1966

Daracon Group is pleased to be recognised among the finalists for the Industry Hall of Fame category at the University of Newcastle (UON) Employability Excellence Awards – a nod to its longstanding collaboration with the University.

Each year, the UON Excellence Awards celebrate the efforts of the University’s employability community, including industry partners like Daracon. The Industry Hall of Fame award acknowledges organisations that consistently provide career-ready placement opportunities, contribute to the professional growth of its student, support the professional preparation of students and contribute to the growth and development of the region.

“Supporting University of Newcastle students has always been incredibly important to us here at Daracon. Thanks to the size and scope of our organisation, we’ve been fortunate to welcome a significant number of undergraduates and graduates into the business and retain many of them throughout their careers.  The size and diversity of the Group enable us to offer a wide range of career opportunities and pathways, which has helped us retain this talent not only for the Group, but also within the Hunter Region,” says Adele Stewart, People & Culture Group Manager at Daracon Group.  

Daracon’s connection to UON dates back to 1966, when its founder and Executive Director David Mingay became one of the University’s first Bachelor of Engineering graduates. Since then, the company has welcomed hundreds of UON graduates across engineering, construction, business, surveying, law, commerce, business administration and other disciplines. For the last six years, Daracon has formally engaged with UON via various careers programs, and today, employs 70 UON alumni across a wide range of roles from Cadets to Company Directors

“We’re incredibly proud to have welcomed hundreds of graduates into Daracon over the last few decades, and this meaningful recognition as a Finalist in the Hall of Fame category reflects our ongoing commitment to nurturing talent and shaping the future of civil construction in the Hunter,” said Ms Stewart.

Daracon looks forward to joining fellow nominees at the Awards Evening on 25 November and celebrating its long-standing commitment to nurturing talent and building careers alongside the University of Newcastle.
