Daracon Leader Hikes in Support of Jenny’s Place

Daracon Group is proud to support People and Culture Manager, Adele Stewart, who will soon set off on a five-day Bay of Fires Trek in Tasmania, raising awareness and funds for Jenny’s Place. 

Since 1977, Jenny’s Place has been a critical support service for women and children across the Newcastle area who are victims of domestic violence or face homelessness. Their mission is to prevent violence and create safer, healthier communities through education and awareness. 

From October 11-15, Adele will be joined by 11 other participants to take on this physically demanding trek along Tasmania’s east coast. The adventure will see participants hiking remote beaches, kayaking down the Ansons River, and camping in remote locations along the way.

“Learning more about Jenny’s place as part of joining the Trek team has been eye opening. I have been impressed and deeply touched by the incredible work they do in the community for women and children in crisis, and the resources they provide,” said Adele. 

“This work is so crucial to our local community but cannot survive without fundraising. I am incredibly thankful to have this opportunity to raise awareness about the work Jenny’s Place do, supported so heavily by our amazing employees and Industry Partners,” she said.

As well as the generous donations from employees and sponsors, the Daracon People and Culture team ran a bake sale in support of Adele. The Daracon team at head office raised a total of $1,125 – with all proceeds directly going towards to Adele’s fundraising goal. The event offered a fun and meaningful way for Daracon staff to get involved and enjoy a treat for a good cause.
