Daracon Group Celebrates International Women’s Day 2026: Championing Equality Across the Industry

Daracon Group is proud to join communities across Australia and the world in celebrating International Women’s Day 2026 on 8 March, as a moment to reflect on progress, champion equality, and take action towards a fairer future for women and girls. This year’s official Australian theme is “Balance the Scales.”

Daracon recognises that the civil construction industry has historically faced challenges in achieving gender balance. Yet the sector is also uniquely positioned to lead meaningful progress and Daracon is focussed on addressing these challenges through a range of activities including:

• Signing on as an Employer Champion with the 50 by 50 campaign led by the Civil Contractor’s Federation NSW (CCF NSW), a program with the goal of having 50% women in the civil construction industry by 2050.
• Engagement with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) events and activities each year
• Delivering pre-employment programs for female workers and creating pathways to careers in the civil construction industry.
• Design and delivery of the SheBuilds program to enhance female workers professional skills, resilience and confidence.
• Engagement of female Cadets, Apprentices and Trainees to create career pathways for female workers.  

The significant work Daracon Group has undertaken was recognised in December 2025, when Workforce Development Lead Ana Saiao was awarded the CCF NSW Women in Civil Construction Excellence Award for her work in championing diversity and inclusion initiatives. Ana’s delivery of pre-employment programs enabled 10 women to enter the construction industry through flexible roles, building confidence through training and creating clear pathways.
