Transport Allocator - Heavy Haulage

Daracon Group has a history of quality and strong performance across a broad range of construction activities. Our Heavy Haulage Fleet operates primarily across the Hunter Region and Northwest region. 

We currently have the need for an experienced Heavy Haulage Transport Allocator to join the team based at our Beresfield depot. Reporting to the Transport Operations Manager, you will assist in a variety of operational aspects to ensure the smooth running and efficient utilisation of resources to facilitate timely and cost effective haulage solutions for both internal and key external clients thereby contributing to the successful operation of our Heavy Haulage Division.

The primary responsibilities in this role are:

  • allocating necessary resources to transport equipment by road at optimum efficiency and economy
  • undertaking site inspections to determine hazards and site access
  • liaising with internal divisions and external clients to prioritise scheduling requirements
  • monitoring of daily timesheets to ensure compliance with fatigue management obligations and award provisions

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated experience in a transport allocation role, ideally within a Heavy Haulage Operation
  • understanding of truck/trailer combinations and their capacities, load restraint regulations and weight distribution    
  • thorough knowledge of Chain of Responsibility, National Heavy Vehicle Law (NHVL), OSOM permits and notices 
  • excellent communication skills to enable you to liaise and negotiate effectively with people at a variety of levels across the business and within the industry
  • the ability to work with minimal supervision in a highly autonomous role
  • sound computer literacy with the ability to learn and use different software systems
